Plan: Backyard Campout
Please check the Web site for updated information.

Is that tent just collecting dust in your garage? Do your kids’ sleeping bags only come out when the grandparents visit? Why not throw your own backyard campout? Skip the long drive to a national park (and save on those camp site fees, too). Simply pitch your tent outside. Don’t have a yard? Suggest a campout with friends that do. Offer to bring the snacks and games if they can host at their place. Are all your friends city-bound and yard-less? Plan the campout in the living room! Have the kids invite their pals and enjoy a night of fresh air (or a homemade fort in the living room) and a real campout, minus the hassle. You can even make the s’mores in the microwave if you can’t muster a campfire.
