Go Chasing Waterfalls!

Watch: New York City Waterfalls
Mondays through Sundays until 10/13/08. Please check the Web site for updated information.

No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you; there really are waterfalls cascading into New York Harbor. These aquatic architectural wonders are part of a public art project called New York City Waterfalls. Designed by artist Olafur Eliasson, who has done other large-scale installations in London, the New York City Waterfalls are only on display until October 13 and will be a sight that you and the kids will probably never see again. There are four waterfalls in the city: one at the Brooklyn Bridge, one on the Brooklyn Piers between Piers 4 and 5, one at Manhattan Pier 35 just north of the Manhattan Bridge and, finally, one at Governors Island. Free viewing locations are available at all of the waterfalls, which flow daily from 7:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., except for Tuesdays and Thursdays, when they run from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Location: The Brooklyn Bridge – New York, NY 10128-0173; between Piers 4 and 5 at the Brooklyn Piers – Brooklyn, NY 11201; Manhattan Pier 35 – New York, NY 10002; Governors Island – New York, NY 10004
