The city is full of places to savor the outdoors, some incredible views and a picnic in the park. For starters, check out Fort Washington Park, home to a lighthouse that was memorialized in the children’s book The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge. There are a few tables and benches set up in the area for you to enjoy the scenery. Rockefeller Park at the north end of Battery Park City also boasts a great picnicking spot, as well as some amazing public art that is part playground and part picnic garden – but all fun. Or check out Fort Tryon Park, which is home to the Cloisters and is also a great setting for an outdoor meal. Alternately, take in the lower Manhattan skyline while noshing at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is nestled between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.
