Kate Wollman Rink at Prospect Park

Slide around the heart of Brooklyn at Prospect Park’s Kate Wollman Rink. A New York institution that is nearly 50 years old, this venue allows families to skate as late into spring as mid-March.

Polar Rink at the American Museum of Natural History

After enjoying the spectacular holiday light display outside the American Museum of Natural History, take advantage of its brand-new Polar Rink. Skate outside the museum with stunning views of the Rose Center, Theodore Roosevelt Park, and a 17-foot stainless steel polar bear.

Staten Island War Memorial Ice Skating Rink

Though there are actually several places to lace up those skates in the Borough of Parks, Staten Island’s prettiest rink is not far from the ferry and is set in bucolic Clove Lakes Park. The War Memorial Ice Skating rink is also indoors, making for some great warm-up time before you sail upper New York Bay.

The Pond at Bryant Park

Not only does the Pond at Bryant Park feature some of the most stunning urban holiday views for skaters, but it’s also free! For a $12 skate rental, you can zip around the park that fashion built and then enjoy a hot toddy and some shopping at the annual holiday market.

The Rink at Rockefeller Center

A list of top ice-skating facilities in New York City is just not complete without the granddaddy of all skating pavilions: the rink at Rockefeller Center. Though this Midtown activity is a bit of a strain on the wallet, it remains the place to see and be seen and is a must-do for all city families.
