A horse is a horse, of course of course, but to a child they are more than just animals, they are the preferred mode of transport for cowboys and princesses. (It isn’t surprising that ponies are often requested in letters to St. Nick.) If your child has been bitten by the riding bug (would that be a horsefly?), this inexpensive equestrian opportunity is perfect. The experts at the Bronx Equestrian Center have horses for all types and temperaments, even for those whose closest contact to riding was watching Seabiscuit. From pony rides to guided trail walks, the center had many opportunities for newbies and novices. There is no appointment needed, but you may want to call ahead to make sure your child meets the height and age requirements for the trail rides.
