Who says you have to go to the Hamptons for summer fun in the sand? The Water Taxi Beach at Hunter’s Point in Queens is easy to get to from Manhattan or Brooklyn; mostly because the Water Taxi runs up and down the East River and features multiple stops. Check the ferry schedule to see where you can hop on, or take your own transportation to this summer hot spot. On Fridays, the beach opens at 4:00 P.M., so bring the kids early to enjoy cheap burgers, dogs and sodas. Or just kick it on the beach with your blankets and umbrellas while you take in East River views. After 8:00 P.M., it’s adults-only, so be sure you’ve got the little ones out of the revelers’ way before the employees start checking IDs. After all, no one wants to try and bounce a four-year-old.
