Ah, Red Bull . . . every mother’s salvation when you simply can’t endure another cup of coffee. Show your love and loyalty for this energizing beverage this Saturday as you come out to North Avenue Beach for Red Bull Flugtag. For all you neophytes out there, Red Bull Flugtag challenges “teams of everyday people to build homemade, human-powered flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck.” This year’s competition features 40 teams of fliers and will kick off at 1:00 P.M. (though gates open two hours earlier). While you’ll obviously be glancing skyward, also realize that your gaze will ultimately fall to the water, as most participants generally plummet into Lake Michigan. Flugtag is free to the general public and is the perfect opportunity to let your kids witness man’s courage, aerodynamic genius and confidence in achieving the impossible when Red Bull is involved.
