Pack up the car and head to the Delaware Water Gap! Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a national park encompassing the 40 miles of the Middle Delaware River and more than 60,000 acres of river valley in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. And, although the park contains 100 miles of hiking trails, it’s mainly all about the water. The Delaware River is the focus of the park and is the perfect spot for canoeing, kayaking, boating, fishing, swimming, taking in scenic waterfalls and strolling along river beaches. You can also go biking, horseback riding and rock climbing and revel in the quieter and more relaxed pursuits of picnicking and bird-watching. Sure, that’s a lot to do, but since the park is about 90 miles from Philadelphia, you’ll want to be certain to get a full day’s worth of fun.
