Now that you’ve got your teenager admiring the classics, your 12-year-old engrossed in Harry Potter and your three-year-old reading chapter books, it’s time to concentrate on the littlest babe in the brood. Start every Friday with a quiet trip to the Philadelphia City Institute for Baby Story Time, an hour dedicated to developing an early love of literature in your infant or toddler. There won’t be an analysis of Melville’s Moby Dick, but exposing your youngster to the rise and fall of a reader’s voice will undoubtedly do wonders for their intellectual development. (Besides, don’t you want the chance to rest your own vocal cords for a second?) Who knows, maybe your tot will even be reading before they take their first steps! This Locust Street event is free, weekly and open to the public.
